Notes on Meaning, Memory and Interpretation
I don’t simply want to understand what people believed. I want to understand what the world must have looked like to them for those beliefs to make sense.
These essays follow the way my mind moves: from a whole picture I struggle to explain, to an ancient listener, an inherited image and a fragment of history that keeps asking questions. Philosophy, spirituality, psychology and art meet here as ways of exploring how meaning takes shape.
This is part of Identity & Creation: the stories and images through which we understand ourselves, and what becomes possible when we give an inward question a form. Come curious. There is room to wonder, and room to look more closely.
